World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 whenever you can.
It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes faster.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This can be a downside since the item may be more expensive even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be extremely useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade item s allows players to upgrade the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its initial state which means that the player has to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items might require different upgrades than normal equipment. For example they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the cost listed above.
